Annual Footwear News Achievement Awards 2015: Full Kanye West Acceptance Speech And Honoree Recap

The annual award ceremony, which is referred to as the "Shoe Oscars," recognizes the best in the footwear industry, and last evening's event saw a star-studded roster of industry attendees.
Hosted by the Footwear Association of New York (FFANY), the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) and Zappos Couture, the 2015 Achievement Awards welcomed renowned attendees, from footwear designer Alexandre Birman to Rebecca Minkoff CEO Uri Minkoff.
Kanye West was awarded the Shoe of the Year Award for the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 by Kanye West. The award was presented by Adidas Originals general manger Arthur Hoeld, Adidas Originals senior director of global entertainment and influencer marketing Jon Wexler, global collaborations director Rachel Muscat and Footwear News editorial director Michael Atmore.
In accepting the award, West gave a humorous twenty-minute acceptance speech, first referring to the Adidas Originals executive team, "So it's cool to be up here with three people who I screamed at the most in the past year," which elicited a round of laughter from the audience.
The designer went on to joke, "I know you're thinking 'Where's his suit jacket?' But if my wife's not here, no suit jacket!"
Kim Kardashian West did not attend the Achievement Awards but did congratulate her husband on the prestigious recognition by uploading a photo of West with the caption, "So well deserved. I see how hard u work & how meaningful this is! (sic)."
