Nike To Release Easter-Themed Signature Shoes

The Easter Bunny has nothing on Nike. The athletic company announced its new Easter Collection of men’s basketball shoes Tuesday, a colorful assortment of four new signature shoes from Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

The four shoes — KOBE X, KD7, KYRIE 1 and LEBRON 12 — capture the spirit of the holiday, pairing pastel colors with micro camo, florals and other abstract prints.

The 2015 Nike Basketball Easter Collection will also feature t-shirts, hats and socks made to match each of the four shoes. It will hit and select retail locations on April 2 — just in time to swap out a few Easter eggs for something a little sweeter than candy. The Lebron 12 Easter is a bit more subdued, featuring a subtle floral print on the upper fuses blah. Hot lava also makes an appearance here, this time highlighting the swoosh and the laces.

The Easter edition boasts the Lebron 12 Megafuse, a fusion of thin layers onto the one-piece sleeve on the ankles and Hyperposite wings for added support, as well as Zoom Air, hexagonal air bags in the front of the sole that provide extra cushioning and flexibility.

FORBES reported today that James is the highest-grossing NBA shoe salesman, and “Nike sold $340 million worth of James’ signature shoes in the last 12-months through January, up 13% from the prior year.” He earns an estimated $20 million a year from the more-than-a-decade-long partnershipThe KOBE X Easter edition reimagines the Lakers shooting guard’s 10th signature shoe for Nike, this time in shades of “hot lava” and “artisian teal,” inspired by a robin’s egg. The minimalist design is incredibly lightweight, with hybrid cushioning and an advanced traction system.
The KYRIE 1 Easter basketball shoes use Kyrie Irving’s first signature shoes for Nike as the base, with a purple upper, paired with hot lava and teal accents, silver swoosh and black tongue.

The Cleveland Cavaliers guard’s signature shoe features 360-degree dynamic traction, Zoom Air and Hyperfuse.

Finally, the KD7 Easter shoes are the most colorful, outfitted in striking “liquid lime, vapor green and sunset glow,” with a micro camo print meant to represent modern street art. A jet-black strap and swoosh offer an interesting juxtaposition with the lighter tones.

Kevin Durant’s seventh signature shoe is the base, with a forefront strap and Zoom Air cushioning.
