Right shoes make the girl
I honestly believe this to be true.
So much so, that I have it written in my bathroom. If you don't believe me, try walking into a courtroom wearing 4-inch stilettos versus flats.
Shoot, trying walking into any room and you will understand what I'm talking about. Admittedly, I am a "heels" kind of girl.
I blame Carrie Bradshaw, which isn't to say I don't love a great pair of flats. I have plenty of those, too, and wear them all the time.
There is just something about an extraordinary pair of heels.
In my humble opinion, the right pair of shoes can make even the most tired and boring ensemble new and fresh again. I know how this sounds but I have a pair of bright yellow, "snake skin" stilettos that may have magical powers. Seriously.
Not only do they look great with just about anything, but when I put them on I feel like I can accomplish anything. I can't explain it.
So, anyway, why do I bring up the topic of shoes? Well, after the hustle of the holidays finally calmed down, I found myself yearning for a shoe reboot (no pun intended).
Did I really need another pair of shoes? No. Did that fact really matter to me? No.
Like most of us, I had no room left in my budget for personal shopping. This led me straight to Payless ShoeSource. Hands down, that is the best place to boost your shoe style without breaking the bank. I won't admit the exact number from that place, but some are the most complimented shoes I own. No matter which brand, they are always comfy, cute and totally worth it.
I went, I shopped, I quieted the beast (for the moment). Here is what I found:
For when I'm feeling a bit fancy, I got the uber-fabulous red Christian Siriano, peep-toes pumps. They are perfect with a sexy little black dress or just a pair of skinny jeans and a white T-shirt. They were on sale for $25.
For more of an everyday situation, I love these Dexflex taupe booties. Pair them with your favorite boyfriend jeans or a casual shirt dress, and you are good to go. These were on sale for $20.
Payless tips: If you order $35 or more, you get free shipping to your house. But they ship to a local store for free no matter how much you spend. This is the best option because you can try them on and return them right then, if necessary. Also, if there is a style you want but the store doesn't have them in stock, they will order them for you and give you one percent off for not having them in stock. How great is that?
Lesson learned: You don't have to spend a ton of money to look great for any occasion. With just two new pairs of shoes for less than $50, I am ready for a fabulous night out or just a quick trip to Target.
