Slip into strappy footwear, let your feet breathe!
While you go through the grind of your daily routine, battling heat and pollution in the air, sashay out in some comfortable footwear this summer. Slip into a pair of relaxing flip-flops so that your gruelling day doesn’t take a toll on your feet, or perhaps wear a colourful morjari ( the traditional footwear that cover your toes) to keep your feet happy all day long!
“Ditch those high heels these summers!” says fashion stylist Nidhi Sharma. We couldn’t agree more but what do we pick instead?
“Opt for studded flats from Furla or step into slip-ons from Steve Madden which has got some interesting intricate designs for these summers. Strappy footwear are anyway the bestsellers for summers. So, to stay happy and comfortable, go for open-toe strappy styles to give your stylish feet some air.”
And what goes best with these footwears?
“Pair these open-toes with a summer sheer crop top and a cotton skirt. This look defines the summery trends!”
Could it get any crazier? Well, yes! There are some sites that offer customisation options for your flip- flops. How does it work? There are blanks left for images and text which you can fill up, and
create your own ‘happy feet’ style statement.
“Chappals with a bit of sparkle are the best option for day wear and are available in flea markets like Sarojini Nagar, luckily the prices wouldn’t make you mortgage your house,” she adds, humorously. “Knitted flip flops or Morjari chappals from Dilli Haat are another budget option which can also be personalised with little ghungroos and studs.”
Defining her fashion statement, she says, “Personally for me, flip-flops act as nine to five knockouts. Embellished, ankle-length, open flats footwear cruise me through the summer.”
So, go out, pair them up with a light coloured lace dress for a perfect sunny day or opt for a plain white Tee and skinny blue jeans followed by open morjari, suggests the stylist . “We often spot our B-town celebs like Deepika Padukone carrying this ethnic-modern look with elan,” sums up the stylist.
