Adidas reveal new colourful Copa Mundial football boots ahead of Brazil World Cup

The original boot is the best-selling of all time but has been developed into a variety of colours inspired by the Samba nation

Adidas have given a facelift to one of the most iconic boots in football history ahead of this summer's World Cup.

The Copa Mundial boot has been brought into the modern era by the sports manufacturer in a series of colours which will be on show during the tournament in Brazil.

Its original release came in 1982 and has become the best-selling football boot of all time, with over 10 million pairs sold worldwide.

Greats such as Franz Beckenbauer, Michel Platini, Zico and Bayern Munich supremo Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have all donned them in the past, with more stars set to do the same this summer.

Designed specifically for firm ground pitches, the new boots boasts kangaroo leather upper and heel sections, which provide excellent control and touch, alongside superior comfort.

Available at an RRP of £145 they are a pricey purchase and the bright colours will no doubt divide opinion amongst fans.

However, traditionalists need not worry, the classic black and white design is still available for those who prefer to keep their footwear low-key.
