Cross border trade will defeat cross-border terrorism, Agra Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Chamber
Talking to India Today after the meeting, Sohail Lasari, president, LCIC, said that there are no flights of Air India to Pakistan. If the borders are opened between India and Pakistan the cross border trade will defeat terrorism in no time. He demanded that the Indian government should issue visas for the whole country instead of granting them for just a few cities.
He said that bicycle, diesel engine, shoes, inlay art and zardozi are some of the businesses that could prosper from cross-border trading. He invited the National Chamber of Commerce to send a delegation to Pakistan.
Welcoming the Pakistani delegation, Manish Agarwal, president, NCIC and Agra Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Chamber said that the business which is presently being routed through Dubai, should be routed directly as it'll save crores in transportation and intermediary costs.
Prahalad Agarwal, President, Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber said that the President of Pakistan was born in Agra. If he pressurizes the Pakistani government to get India declared as Most Favored Nation, it'll make a huge difference in the business volumes transacted across the border. Whenever the Indian government offers lenient terms for the development of cross-border trade, the political turmoil in Pakistan throws everything out of gear. Cross-Border trade needs to be handled with velvet gloves, he said.
