Rs 2L loss as fire destroys Hazaribag footwear shop

Hazaribag: A footwear shop in Daily Market was gutted in a fire that broke out suddenly on Monday. Owner of the shop Raj Kumar said the loss due to fire is estimated to be around Rs 2 lakh but he had no idea how the fire broke out.

Hazaribag Sadar police station being in close proximity of the market, police immediately called the fire brigade, which rushed to the spot. It took two hours to bring the fire under control. The timely arrival of the fire brigade, saved nearby shops from catching fire.

Police ruled out the possibility of any foul play and said a short circuit sparked the fire. Two persons, who were injured in the incident, were admitted to Hazaribag Sadar hospital. As a precautionary measure, power connections in the market complex were snapped so that it did not cause further damages.

In another major fire, which broke out at a grocery shop owned by the mukhiya of Kadma panchayat under the Pelawal police station, property worth more than Rs 50,000 was gutted. Besides, the two-wheeler of the mukhiya parked near the shop was also gutted when the fire came into contact with the oil tanker of the vehicle.

The loud explosion sent people running helter skelter for cover. However, no one received any injury. People of the locality suspect that someone may have set the shop on fire due to personal enmity. On receiving information, Pelawal police rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the matter.
