Nike unveils new Indian cricket gear
The kit was unveiled ahead of India’s limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka starting July 21, with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Zaheer Khan, R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane and Pragyan Ojha present on the occasion.
Made from Nike's proprietary Dri-FIT fabric, the Nike Vapor top and shorts helps wick sweat away and keeps the athlete dry. “We at Nike studied the game of cricket very closely. The training gear has been created toequip Team India for competition. The new training apparel is thus more lightweight, breathable, and comfortable.” said Avinash Pant, Marketing Director, Nike India Pvt. Ltd.
“The sport of cricket demands long hours of training and taking this into account, one of the key features that I really like in Nike’s new training apparel is that it is light and comfortable. The construction on the garment enables better ventilation and increased air flow which keeps us cool and is an advantage when we train.” said Kohli, India’s vice-captain.
“While athletes train for the game of cricket, their apparel needs to offer them the right protection, freedom of movement and flexibility. This apart, athletes play and train for the sport in varying weather conditions. All these factors play a crucial role while designing training gear and I am confident that Nike’s new training apparel fulfills these requirements.” added Fletcher.
